Imphal, Feb 27: Security forces have arrested five militants linked to different banned outfits from valley districts of Manipur, police said on Friday, February 27.
According to a police statement, at least 10 firearms along with a cache of ammunition were recovered during separate operations conducted in two districts as part of intensified counter-insurgency efforts.
An active cadre of the proscribed People’s Liberation Army was apprehended from the Koirengei Manung Laikhon Leikai area in Imphal East district on February 25. The arrests were carried out during ongoing operations aimed at curbing militant activities in the state.
Police said further investigation is in progress and security forces have stepped up search operations in sensitive areas to prevent unlawful activities and maintain law and order.
