Itanagar, Feb 27: A woman died and another person sustained injuries after a massive fire broke out in the early hours of Friday, February 27, in E Sector, opposite the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Secretariat.
The blaze erupted around 12:30 AM and completely destroyed a residential house. Local residents reported hearing multiple LPG cylinder explosions, which intensified the flames and caused the fire to spread rapidly.
The deceased was identified as Tarh Yayum. The injured individual was admitted to a hospital for treatment. Fire and emergency personnel rushed to the spot and succeeded in preventing the fire from spreading to adjacent houses.
However, a firefighter from the Itanagar Fire Station later shared a video alleging that a structure, reportedly a meat shop built along the colony road, obstructed access for the fire tender and delayed its arrival at the site. In the video, he appealed to residents to refrain from unauthorised constructions that could hinder emergency response operations.
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Authorities have initiated an investigation, and further details are awaited.
