Guwahati: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has intensified its efforts towards sustainable living and environmental protection through a series of initiatives under the ongoing “Swachhata Hi Seva-2025” campaign. The activities, held across stations, offices, hospitals, workshops and colonies, focused on spreading awareness about cleanliness, recycling and eco-friendly practices.
A highlight of the drive was a ‘Waste-to-Art’ exhibition at Guwahati Railway Station, where innovative items crafted from discarded plastic and other reusable materials were displayed and sold. The exhibition, centered on the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (RRR), showcased how waste can be transformed into useful and aesthetic products, inspiring visitors to adopt greener lifestyles.

At the Maligaon Colony Compost Plant, a special sale of compost manure produced from biodegradable waste was organized. The initiative aimed to encourage residents to understand the benefits of composting and promote the conversion of household organic waste into valuable manure for gardening and agriculture.

Through cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, distribution of eco-friendly items and recycling activities, NFR continues to reaffirm its commitment to building a cleaner, greener environment while fostering collective responsibility among railway staff and the public.
