Tiger and Deer Skins Seized, One Apprehended

Guwahati: In a major breakthrough against wildlife trafficking, a joint team of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB), and the Forest Department seized a whole tiger skin and eight deer skins in Guwahati on Saturday afternoon.

Acting on specific inputs, a special operation under Hatigaon Police Station was launched around 12:00 noon by personnel from the 1st Battalion SSB Sonapur and 64th Battalion SSB Barama, under the overall supervision of Frontier Headquarters SSB, Guwahati.

During the operation, one person identified as Ananda Ram Deka, a resident of Joytipath Bhatapara under Hatigaon PS in Kamrup (M), was apprehended. The seized items along with the accused have been handed over to the Forest Department for further investigation and legal action.

Authorities said the seizure highlights the continued threat of illegal wildlife trade in the region and reaffirmed their commitment to stringent action against offenders.
