Guwahati, March 21: Congress candidate Suruchi Roy filed her nomination for the Ramkrishnanagar Assembly constituency on March 20 in the presence of local party leaders.
She was accompanied by district Congress president Tapas Purkayastha, vice president Subrata Dev, and other party members during the submission of her nomination papers.
Addressing reporters, Roy said her campaign would focus on a “local versus Bangladeshi” narrative. She also criticised the BJP candidate, alleging that a citizenship-related case against him is pending before the High Court and claiming that he has been unable to establish his Indian citizenship in court. Expressing confidence, she asserted that she would secure victory from the Ramkrishnanagar constituency.
However, the nomination event witnessed a relatively low turnout of supporters compared to similar political filings.
