Announcing his next move, Bhuyan stated that he would contest the elections as an Independent candidate. “I will file my nomination papers on Monday and contest the elections as an independent candidate,” he told reporters. The legislator also appealed to his supporters to extend their continued backing, asserting that his commitment to the people of Bihpuria remains unchanged. He emphasized that his primary goal is to serve the constituency, regardless of political affiliation.
Bhuyan’s resignation comes at a crucial time as political parties gear up for the elections, and his independent candidature is likely to make the contest in Bihpuria more competitive.
