Guwahati, March 25: Guwahati is set to host its first junior obstacle race, ‘Junior Circuit’, on March 29 at Arya College Playground, with organisers aiming to promote outdoor activity and strengthen parent-child interaction.
The event is designed for children between the ages of 3 and 15 and moves away from conventional race formats by eliminating competition. There will be no timing systems or rankings, with the emphasis placed entirely on participation and course completion.
Participants will navigate a course of approximately 900 to 1,000 metres, featuring 15 obstacles including crawling tunnels, balance beams and cargo nets. Parents are expected to actively participate alongside their children, transforming the event into a shared experience rather than a competitive contest.
Organised by Culture Club with support from House of Play, the initiative seeks to encourage physical activity among children while addressing concerns over increasingly sedentary lifestyles.
Founder Nikhil Mozika said the concept focuses on experiential learning beyond traditional environments, aiming to build confidence and resilience through real-life challenges undertaken with parental support.
Organisers added that every participant who completes the course will be recognised, reinforcing the event’s focus on effort, engagement and enjoyment rather than competition.
