Udalguri-Sonitpur, March 25: Police at Rangapara Government Railway Police (GRP) station in Assam’s Sonitpur district seized 41 kilograms of banned cannabis during a search operation on March 25.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Officer-in-Charge Rajiv Gohain Das at Rangapara Railway Station. Officials said the contraband was recovered from a train bound for Mukokchilek during routine checking.
Following the seizure, a case has been registered and further investigation is in progress to ascertain the source and intended destination of the narcotics.
The successful operation has drawn appreciation from local residents, who lauded the efforts of the railway police in curbing illegal trafficking.
