Guwahati, March 28: Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a ‘Vijay Sankalpa Sabha’ in Golakganj over the phone on March 28 after adverse weather conditions forced the cancellation of his scheduled visit.
The rally, held at Dhepdhepi playground under the Golakganj Assembly constituency, was organised in support of BJP candidate Ashwini Roy Sarkar. Despite heavy rainfall preventing the Chief Minister’s helicopter from landing, a large number of supporters gathered at the venue from early in the day, reflecting strong turnout.
In an effort to connect with the crowd, Sarma delivered his address via phone, with his message broadcast through loudspeakers. He expressed regret over his absence and appealed to voters to back Sarkar, while reiterating the party’s development-focused agenda for Dhubri district.
Party leaders described the telephonic address as an effective alternative under challenging circumstances, noting that the outreach helped maintain momentum among party workers ahead of the elections. The programme concluded with local leaders reaffirming their campaign efforts as rain continued in the area.
