Nagaon: A Voter Awareness Campaign Programme under the theme “My India, My Vote” was successfully organized at Nagaon University with the active participation of students and officials, aiming to promote electoral awareness and responsible voting among youth. The programme was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), NSS Cell, and NCC Unit of Nagaon University, in collaboration with the SVEEP Cell of the District Administration, Nagaon, Assam. The initiative formed part of a broader effort to strengthen voter education and participation under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.
The event was inaugurated by Dhrubajyoti Baruah, Registrar of the university, who highlighted the importance of voting as a cornerstone of democracy and encouraged students to actively participate in the electoral process. The proceedings were initiated by Bhuban Ch. Chutia, Director of IQAC, who underlined the role of academic institutions in fostering civic responsibility and awareness among the younger generation. Naba Prasad Nath, Deputy Registrar and Master Trainer, delivered an informative session on voter registration, electoral procedures, and ethical voting practices. He emphasized the importance of informed decision-making in a democratic setup.

Representing the district administration, Dhananjay Talukdar, Accounts Officer of Nehru Yuva Kendra, elaborated on the initiatives taken by the administration under the SVEEP programme. He spoke about outreach activities, youth engagement strategies, and awareness drives conducted across the district to ensure maximum voter participation, especially among first-time voters. The involvement of the District Administration, Nagaon through its SVEEP Cell played a crucial role in the success of the event, ensuring dissemination of accurate information and mobilization of youth participation. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 500 students, including a significant number of young and first-time voters. The campaign concluded with a collective pledge by participants to uphold democratic values and contribute responsibly to the nation’s electoral process.
