Guwahati, April 4: In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Special Task Force (STF) in coordination with Kamrup Police seized heroin valued at approximately ₹1.5 crore during a raid at Amingaon, leading to the arrest of three individuals.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Kalyan Kumar Pathak, Additional Superintendent of Police, following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of contraband in the area.
Those apprehended include two women from Manipur—Kontha Ingalai (31) and Mamataz Begum (38), both residents of Kakching in Thoubal district—and a local peddler, Md Sahil Khan (43) from Rangia.
During the search operation, officials recovered 13 soap boxes containing heroin weighing a total of 182 grams. Preliminary findings indicate that the consignment was being transported for delivery to the Rangia-based accused.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individuals under relevant provisions of the law. Officials stated that enforcement agencies have stepped up efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks, particularly those operating across inter-state routes, as part of an intensified crackdown in Assam.
