Nagaon: In a sensational incident at Kathpara village under Ambagan Police Outpost, three dreaded dacoits were killed in a massive public attack in the wee hours on Monday. According to sources, a huge gang of dacoits well equipped with arms entered into the residence of one Muzammil Haque Chowdhury, a local resident of Kathpara village under Ambagan Police Outpost in Samaguri constituency. The gang of dacoits tied hands and feet of the householder Chowdhury and attacked on him, left him seriously injured in his face and a sharp weapon was settled around the neck of his six-year-old daughter and looted jewellery worth of about Rs 4 lakhs and other valuables, and tried to flee from the spot.

On being heard of screaming of victim Chowdhury and his family members, some local residents rushed to the spot and apprehended three of the gang with red handed and thrashed them, later handed over to police. The dacoits have been identified as Saif Ullah and Enamul Haque, both hail from Kadamguri village and Rekib Uddin including Azibur Rahman alias Khairul of Lorirmukh village of the constituency.
Sources claimed that on being informed by locals, Ambagan and Rupahihat police rushed to the scene and recovered four accused dacoits at critically injured condition and taken them to Nagaon Medical College and Hospital, where accused Saif Ullah and Azibur @ Khairul were declared broad dead by the on-duty doctors. Notably, critically injured Enamul also breathed his last after a few hours while undergoing treatment at the hospital in the wee hours on Monday. Meanwhile police started investigation to nab other members of the gang and legal proceedings are on in this regard, sources added further.
