Indian Oil Petrol Pump seals for Irregularities in nagaon

Nagaon: In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, the Nagaon district administration sealed an Indian Oil petrol pump in Uriagaon, on the outskirts of Nagaon town, for operating without a trade license and other irregularities. The action was taken following a written complaint from a vigilant citizen.

District Commissioner Debashish Sarma led the raid on the petrol pump, M/s Highway Carriers Refilling Center, on Saturday evening. During the inspection, the Commissioner found several discrepancies, including the absence of a trade license. The petrol pump was reportedly being operated by a woman businessman from outside the state, who was recently entrusted with the responsibility by Indian Oil Limited without obtaining the necessary trade license from the district administration.

The Commissioner expressed doubts over the authenticity of the woman’s signature on the application for a trade license. Moreover, the petrol pump did not have a valid calibration certificate from the Legal Metrology Department, which is mandatory for ensuring accurate measurements. The pump’s staff failed to produce the certificate during the inspection.

The District Commissioner emphasized that the action was taken due to the pump’s failure to comply with departmental guidelines and regulations. The administration has urged all petrol pump operators to adhere to the rules and regulations to ensure customer safety and protection.
