Pradyot Debbarma Says TTAADC Polls About Future Generations, Hopes for Peaceful Voting

Agartala, April 12: Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on April 12 said that the ongoing Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council elections are crucial for shaping the future of coming generations, stressing that voters will prioritise long-term interests and rights.

Speaking after casting his vote at Mandwi in West Tripura district, the founder of the Tipra Motha Party expressed satisfaction over the early turnout, which stood at around 22 per cent by 9 am. He voiced hope that participation would increase further, noting Tripura’s history of high voter engagement and expressing confidence in a peaceful polling process.

Debbarma said he remains optimistic about the outcome, adding that voters would make choices keeping the future of their children in mind. He emphasised that the electorate would prioritise their rights, describing them as essential for long-term survival.

Addressing concerns over violence, he asserted that there is no place for criminal elements in politics. Referring to a recent incident in Takarjala, he said he would comment in detail after the elections, while criticising the practice of fielding individuals with alleged criminal backgrounds.

With voting underway, Debbarma said he has faith in the people’s mandate, the results of which will be declared on April 17.
