This decision follows a period of intense and heavy rainfall on April 19, which triggered widespread waterlogging and significantly disrupted daily life throughout the region. The closure mandate applies to every government and private institution situated within the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) area, reflecting the severity of the environmental impact on the city’s infrastructure.
State authorities emphasized that the directive was issued in the greater public interest, prioritizing the safety and well-being of students, teaching faculty, and administrative staff.
