Bongaigaon, April 20: Police in Bongaigaon district have arrested an alleged drug peddler during a late-night anti-narcotics operation, seizing a substantial quantity of contraband.
The accused, Rafiul Hussain, a resident of Kabaitary in Jogighopa, was apprehended from the Chalantapara area. Police said he had allegedly been involved in illegal drug trade activities for an extended period while evading law enforcement.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team from Jogighopa Police conducted a raid at a rented house in Chalantapara. During the search operation, officers recovered 1,756 narcotic capsules. The accused was caught at the scene.
In addition to the contraband, police seized cash, a mobile phone and a motorcycle from his possession. Sources indicated that Hussain had previously been jailed in connection with multiple cases.
Further investigation is underway to establish the full extent of the network and any possible links.
