Chennaiyin FC Eye Crucial Home Win Against Mohammedan SC

Chennai: Chennaiyin FC will look to register their third win of the season and move closer to safety when they take on relegation-threatened Mohammedan SC in an Indian Super League 2026 clash at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Tuesday. The match offers Chennaiyin a chance to secure their first-ever ISL victory over the Kolkata-based side, who are still searching for their first win of the season.

Assistant coach Anthony Fernandes, stepping in for head coach Clifford Rayes Miranda due to illness, emphasised the need to stay focused. “Our priority is the next match. Every ISL game is competitive, and we must give our best to secure three points,” he said. Chennaiyin head into the contest on a positive note after a hard-fought 1-0 win over SC Delhi, which lifted them to 10th place with eight points. Fernandes said the victory has boosted team morale, especially after a difficult run of results.

“We showed good control and created chances in recent matches. Now we need to make better use of our home advantage,” he added. Defender Laldinliana Renthlei is set to return after recovering from a minor knee injury, while Farukh Choudhary remains doubtful for the clash. With a tough away schedule ahead, Chennaiyin will aim to build momentum and climb the table, while Mohammedan SC will be desperate to open their account this season.
