Dhubri: With heavy inflow of water from Bhutan, the water level of the Gangadhar River has surged, causing massive erosion in the Sastarghat area under Patamari Gaon Panchayat of Dhubri constituency. The rising river has triggered panic among residents as vast stretches of land continue to cave into the river, destroying homes and farmlands.
According to reports, several bighas of cultivable land, houses, and trees have already been washed away overnight. Many families, fearing complete loss, have begun dismantling their homes and moving to safer locations. The devastation has left dozens of villagers homeless, with their agricultural livelihoods now in jeopardy.
