Aizawl, April 28: All schools across nine districts of Mizoram remained shut on April 28 as persistent rainfall continued to affect large parts of the state, prompting authorities to prioritise student safety.
According to School Education Director Angela Zothanpuii, district administrations including Aizawl, Kolasib, Lunglei and Mamit ordered the closure as a precautionary measure.
The move follows continuous rainfall since April 27, which has heightened concerns over landslides, waterlogging and related risks in vulnerable areas.
However, schools in the southern districts of Hnahthial and Lawngtlai remained open after weather conditions showed signs of improvement.
Officials said the situation is being closely monitored, with further decisions on school operations to be taken based on evolving weather conditions in the coming days.
