Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2026: Online Registration Opens, Pilgrimage to Run June–August via Nathu La and Lipulekh

Gangtok, May 1: The Ministry of External Affairs on April 30 announced that the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra will be between June and August 2026, with online registrations now open for applicants. The pilgrimage will be conducted via the Nathu La Pass route in Sikkim and the Lipulekh Pass route in Uttarakhand.

According to the ministry, the Yatra will be organised in coordination with the Chinese government, with a total of 20 batches planned. Ten batches will consist of 50 pilgrims each, while the remaining groups will travel through the alternate route.

The MEA stated that the entire application and selection process has been made fully digital. Applicants must submit their forms through the official online portal, with no requirement for physical document submission. All communication related to the pilgrimage will also be handled through the website.

Selection of pilgrims will be carried out through a computer-generated, random and gender-balanced process. Applicants have the option to choose either of the two routes or apply for both while indicating their preference. The last date for registration has been set as May 19.

The pilgrimage holds significant religious importance, particularly among Hindus, who regard Mount Kailash as the abode of Lord Shiva. The site is also revered by followers of Jainism and Buddhism.

In a related development, Yogi Adityanath recently provided financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to 555 pilgrims undertaking the Yatra, underscoring efforts to facilitate participation and promote religious tourism.
