Over 700 Grams of Suspected Heroin Seized in Separate Anti-Drug Operations in Manipur, Two Arrested

Imphal, May 2: Security forces and Manipur Police conducted separate anti-narcotics operations in Senapati district and Imphal East district, resulting in the seizure of more than 700 grams of suspected heroin and the arrest of two individuals.

In the first operation on May 1, security personnel apprehended Manglenthang Tuboi (25), a resident of Saikul Bazar, from the Kabinam area under Maram Police Station in Senapati district. During the operation, 551 grams of suspected heroin were recovered from his possession. A four-wheeler and a mobile phone were also seized in connection with the case.

In a separate operation on April 30, Manipur Police arrested Md. Anish Khan (28) from Sajiwa Jail Road at Khabeisoi under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district. He is a resident of Kairang Khumidok Mayai Leikai. Police recovered three soap cases containing 154 grams of suspected heroin powder from his possession.

Subsequently, as part of the ongoing investigation, a search operation was conducted on May 1 at a residence in Nongmeibung Nambam Chuthek. During the search, eight additional soap cases containing suspected heroin powder were recovered.

Authorities said further investigation is underway to trace links and determine the extent of the network involved in the illegal drug trade.
