Guwahati, May 4: Amid counting trends favouring the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in Assam, political leader Taranga Gogoi on May 4 expressed confidence that the alliance would surpass the 100-seat mark in the 126-member Assembly.
Speaking to reporters in Dibrugarh, Gogoi said the electorate had voted in favour of development and stability under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He asserted that Sarma was set to return to power, citing the government’s development agenda as a key factor behind public support.
Gogoi also linked the outcome to broader political backing for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that voters supported the BJP’s vision for both the state and the country.
Projecting a decisive victory, he maintained that the NDA would secure more than 100 seats. He further criticised the Indian National Congress leadership, claiming it lacked political influence in Assam.
Counting of votes is underway across the state under tight security, with trends continuing to indicate a strong lead for the ruling alliance.
