Agartala, May 4: Tripura BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya on May 4 said the ongoing election trends in West Bengal indicate growing public dissatisfaction with the ruling All India Trinamool Congress and a shift in support towards the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Reacting to the counting patterns, Bhattacharya said the electorate had signalled a desire for political change. He expressed confidence that the BJP would form the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attributing the party’s performance to its development agenda and vision of a “Viksit Bharat”.
He also linked the high voter turnout in the state to increasing public backing for the BJP, stating that the participation reflected a broader shift in political sentiment.
Bhattacharya congratulated voters in Assam, Puducherry and West Bengal for their support, while highlighting the party’s strong showing in the Northeast. He pointed to the BJP’s lead towards a majority in Assam and its victory in the Dharmanagar by-election in Tripura.
Praising the conduct of the polls, he described the role of the Election Commission of India as a “historic achievement”, noting that the elections were carried out smoothly.
He concluded that the high turnout in West Bengal underscored public demand for change and reflected sentiment against the incumbent state government.
