Duliajan: After a long discontinued period, hydrocarbon PSU Oil India Limited is organising the 8th Edition of Oil India Gold Cup football tournament from October 11 at the Nehru Maidan in Duliajan. Commenting on the tournament, Madhurjya Baruah, Executive Director, Administration and Human Resource said the tournament will be organised in association with the All India Football Federation.
The revival of the tournament marks a renewed commitment to strengthen community engagement, promote regional football and create opportunities for emerging talent. Madhurjya Baruah said. Incepted in 2005, OIL Gold Cup Football Tournament was regarded as a prestigious football tournament of the state. The tournament halt for some undisclosed reasons since 2013.

According to the match schedules of the tournament, the first round matches of the tournament shall be organised at Zaloni Tea estate playground. 2 qualifying teams from that round shall be eligible for playing the tournament from October 21 at the Nehru Maidan.
Noted national level football teams Emami East Bengal FC, Kolkata, Diamond Harbour FC, Kolkata, North East United FC (NEUFC), Guwahati, Tiddim Road Athletic Union, Manipur, Shillong Lajong FC, United Chirangduar FC, ASEB sports Club, Assam Police Football Team, Guwahati, Oil India FC, Duliajan will be participating the tournament.
Conducted under the technical guidance of the Assam Football Association (AFA), the tournament will follow a knockout format. The winner of the tournament shall be honoured with Rupees Five lakhs and a trophy. The Runners up will get a cash prize of Rupees Two lakhs and fifty thousand. The final of the tournament will be played on October 30 at the Nehru Maidan.
