Aizawl, May 17: Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Nimuben Bambhaniya on Saturday said the Centre remains committed to promoting inclusive and comprehensive development with a focus on ensuring welfare benefits reach every section of society, particularly at the grassroots level.
During her visit to Chawngtlai in Khawzawl district, the minister reviewed the implementation of several development projects and welfare programmes in the region, according to an official statement.
Bambhaniya also chaired a review meeting with district authorities, including the Deputy Commissioner and other officials at the DC Office in Khawzawl, to assess the progress and implementation status of various government schemes.
In a post shared on social media, the minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is working to ensure that development initiatives and welfare programmes reach beneficiaries across the country, including those in remote areas.
As part of her visit, she interacted with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin and inspected houses built under the scheme.
The minister also encouraged local women to take advantage of women-centric government programmes and explore improved market access and better pricing opportunities to strengthen financial independence and economic participation.
Bambhaniya has been on an official visit to Mizoram since May 14 to review the implementation of centrally sponsored welfare schemes and engage directly with beneficiaries.
