Kris Srikkanth Slams RR Selection After Loss to DC

New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals suffered a major setback in their IPL 2026 playoff hopes after slumping to a five-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The loss marked Rajasthan Royals’ third consecutive defeat of the season, leaving the inaugural champions in a difficult position in the race for the playoffs. Led by Riyan Parag, the Royals struggled to make an impact in what was considered a must-win fixture. Former India captain Kris Srikkanth strongly criticised the team management and selection decisions following the defeat, hinting at possible internal issues within the Royals camp.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth questioned the omission of experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja from the playing XI. He termed the decision “absurd” and said the team looked disorganised and lacking intent. Srikkanth also pointed to Riyan Parag’s absence during the post-match presentation, where the skipper reportedly did not come forward to collect his award for hitting the maximum sixes, suggesting that something could be “internally wrong” within the side. The former opener further criticised the decision to include a young batter instead of an experienced player like Jadeja in such an important game, saying the Royals appeared to have “played to lose.”

Despite the disappointing run, Rajasthan Royals still remain mathematically in contention for a playoff berth. The team has two league-stage matches remaining against Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians. The Royals will now need victories in both matches and favourable results elsewhere to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive.
