Guwahati, May 24: Tension gripped Guwahati on May 24 after a youth was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon beneath the Six Mile flyover, triggering concern among residents and commuters in the area.
The injured person was identified as Binit Kumar Ray, a resident of Panjabari. According to sources, the incident occurred in the busy Six Mile area and created panic among people present nearby.
Following the incident, police personnel reached the location and immediately launched an operation. The accused, identified as Abdul Motaleb from Bilasipara, was apprehended shortly after the attack.
Police also recovered a blood-stained knife from the scene, which is suspected to have been used in the incident.
The injured youth was shifted for medical treatment, while investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the attack and the motive behind it.
The incident has once again raised concerns over cases involving violent assaults and the use of sharp weapons in Guwahati, with police continuing efforts to strengthen surveillance and security arrangements in sensitive areas of the city.
