Assam Skater Madhurjya Raj Choudhury Wins Silver at National Championship

Guwahati: Young skating sensation Madhurjya Raj Choudhury has added another feather to Assam’s sporting cap by clinching a silver medal at the 11th Ranking Open National Speed Skating Championship 2026 held in Noida. The prestigious championship, organised by the Roller Skating Federation of India from May 21 to 24, witnessed participation from nearly 1,500 skaters from across the country in both Quad and Inline events.

Representing NPS International School, Guwahati, Madhurjya delivered an impressive performance in the fiercely contested 12–15 years category. Competing in the Quad discipline, he secured the second position in the demanding 1 Lap Road Race event, displaying remarkable speed, balance and technical skill against some of the nation’s top young skaters.

The national-level achievement comes after a highly successful season on the state circuit. Earlier this year, Madhurjya bagged two gold medals at the All Assam Inter School Roller Skating Championship 2026. He further strengthened his dominance by winning four gold medals at the 8th All Assam Roller Skating Championship 2026 organised by the Roller Skating Association of Assam. Madhurjya, son of Manoj Choudhury and Dr. Karobee Hazarika Choudhury of Krishnanagar in Chandmari, Guwahati, has received widespread praise from coaches, school authorities and sports enthusiasts for his consistent performances and dedication to the sport.
