Kaziranga: The second edition of the “Kaziranga Chess Carnival” will be held on June 7 at Resort Borgos in Kohora near the Kaziranga National Park, organisers announced recently. The event is being organised by Adian Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in association with Assam Chess Club and in collaboration with Aaghun. The one-day rapid chess tournament will feature competitions in Under-10, Under-15 and Open categories and is expected to attract more than 200 participants, including FIDE-rated players, state champions, junior talents, coaches and academies from different parts of India and neighbouring regions.

The tournament will be conducted under the supervision of International Arbiter and former Indian chess coach Biswajit Bharadwaj. The competition will follow a seven-round Swiss League format with a time control of 10 minutes plus five seconds increment. Matches will begin at 9 am, while the prize distribution ceremony is scheduled for 3 pm.
The total prize pool for the event has been fixed at Rs 1 lakh. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 10 players in the Open category, while trophies and merit certificates will be presented to winners in the junior categories. Speaking about the initiative, Adian Director and Aaghun Foundation founder Abhijit Gogoi said the organisers aim to promote Kaziranga not only as a wildlife destination but also as a centre for sports and cultural tourism. He added that the long-term vision is to transform the tournament into a week-long international chess festival in the future. The inaugural edition held in 2025 had witnessed participation from 161 players and received an encouraging response from the chess community. Online registration for the tournament is currently open.
