Bilasipara: The menace of illegal tree felling by forest mafias continues unabated in Bilasipara. According to reports, large-scale deforestation was taking place inside the Tokorabandha Hill Reserved Forest area under the jurisdiction of the Shalkocha Forest Range.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Shalkocha Forest Department carried out a surprise raid in the area. During the operation, a youth was caught red-handed while cutting down trees. The arrested individual has been identified as Shahanur Alam, a resident of Tokorabandha village.

Sources informed that the forest officials apprehended the accused and produced him before the court after completing necessary legal procedures.
Local residents have expressed concern over the rampant destruction of forest resources, urging the Forest Department to take strict and immediate action against those involved in the illegal activity.
