Assam Police Seize 5 Kg Cannabis in Tingkhang, One Person Arrested

A 39-year-old man was arrested after police recovered 5 kg of cannabis from his residence during a late-night operation in Assam’s Tingkhang on June 13.

The accused, identified as Rohini Koch, a resident of No. 1 Chapatoli village, was taken into custody following the seizure of the contraband from his house.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police Bendon Daimary and involved Officer-in-Charge of Tingkhang Police Station Dharmendra Bora, Sub-Inspector Manoj Hatimuria and other police personnel.

According to police, the accused has been arrested and further investigation is in progress. Authorities are attempting to trace the origin of the seized cannabis and examine whether the case is linked to a wider narcotics trafficking network.

Police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and said further legal action is being pursued.
