PM Modi Extends Birthday Greetings to Rahul Gandhi as Leaders Across Parties Join Wishes

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 19 extended birthday greetings to Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on his 56th birthday, with leaders from across the political spectrum also conveying their wishes on the occasion.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Best wishes to the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji on his birthday. Praying for his good health and long life.”

Celebrations were held at the Congress headquarters, Indira Bhawan, in New Delhi, where posters were displayed to mark the occasion. Rahul Gandhi is expected to spend the day with party workers.

Several Congress leaders took to social media to convey their greetings. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy described Gandhi as an “ever-inspiring leader” and lauded his commitment to democratic values, social justice and public welfare.

“His steadfast commitment to democratic values, social justice, and the welfare of the people continues to inspire many,” Reddy said while wishing him good health and strength for continued public service.

The official social media handle of the Indian National Congress also paid tribute to Gandhi, highlighting his political journey and role in the party. The post praised his efforts against “injustice, inequality and misuse of power” and described him as a voice for the aspirations of younger Indians.

Rahul Gandhi is currently serving as the 12th Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and represents the Rae Bareli constituency in Uttar Pradesh, which he won in the 2024 general election. He previously represented Wayanad in Kerala between 2019 and 2024 and Amethi in Uttar Pradesh from 2004 to 2019.

Born on June 19, 1970, Rahul Gandhi is the son of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and former Congress president Sonia Gandhi. He served as president of the Indian National Congress from December 2017 until July 2019.
