Tripura Receives ₹1 Crore Incentive from NITI Aayog for Timely Establishment of TIFT

Agartala, June 23: Tripura has received recognition from NITI Aayog for setting up the Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIFT) under the State Support Mission (SSM) within the prescribed timeframe. In acknowledgement of the achievement, NITI Aayog has granted an incentive of ₹1 crore to support approved developmental initiatives undertaken by the institution.

Established in December 2023 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha, TIFT functions as the state government’s policy think tank. The institution focuses on policy advocacy, strategic planning, data analytics and the provision of multidisciplinary expertise to advance Tripura’s development priorities.

The recognition reflects the state’s efforts to strengthen institutional capabilities and promote governance based on evidence and measurable outcomes. Officials said the financial support would enable TIFT to undertake innovative programmes and further contribute to Tripura’s long-term socio-economic development.

Tripura’s growing prominence at the national level was further highlighted when NITI Aayog selected the state to host the “NITI-Regional Dialogue under State Support Mission: Participation by Eastern and Northeastern States/UTs” in Agartala on February 3, 2026. The event brought together representatives from eastern and northeastern states and union territories to share best practices and enhance collaborative approaches to governance.

Officials said the latest recognition reinforces Tripura’s position as an emerging example of institutional innovation and policy-led development in the Northeast. They noted that the achievement reflects the state’s commitment to strengthening governance mechanisms and promoting sustainable growth.

“This recognition reflects Tripura’s strong commitment to institutional strengthening and driving evidence-based governance. The achievement is a testament to the state’s vision of fostering innovation, accountability, and transformative development,” officials stated.
