Tripura Police Seize Yaba Tablets Worth ₹7.5 Crore, One Arrested in North Tripura Anti-Drug Operation

North Tripura, June 29: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Tripura Police arrested one individual after recovering a large consignment of Yaba tablets worth an estimated ₹7.5 crore during a routine vehicle checking operation in Damchera Police Station area near the Mizoram border on Monday, June 29.

Acting on suspicion, police intercepted a vehicle during a routine inspection drive. The search operation was carried out under strict legal supervision in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Police Officer K. Sisodia, and a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory to ensure proper procedural compliance.

During the inspection, officials recovered around 1.5 lakh Yaba tablets concealed inside the vehicle. The accused has been identified as Anup Nunia, a 23-year-old resident of Silchar in Assam.

Authorities confirmed that the contraband was seized following all required legal formalities. Police have initiated a detailed investigation to trace other members of the trafficking network and uncover the broader smuggling route linked to the seizure.

The North Tripura District Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining a strict crackdown on drug trafficking and organised crime, stating that such operations are aimed at ensuring a safer and drug-free society.
