Manipur Security Forces Seize Suspected Brown Sugar, Recover Arms and Ammunition in Twin Operations

Imphal, June 30: Security forces in Manipur carried out two separate operations on June 29, leading to the seizure of suspected narcotic substances in Senapati district and the recovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition from Jiribam district.

In the first operation, personnel intercepted a Tata Yodha vehicle bearing registration number MN-06LA-3305 at the T-Khullen Naka Check Point under Senapati Police Station in Senapati district.

Two occupants of the vehicle, both residents of Kangpokpi district, were apprehended during the operation. They were identified as Helkho Kipgen (45), a resident of Keithelmanbi village who was driving the vehicle, and Hatneilhing Kipgen (40), a resident of Hengbung village.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 42 soap cases containing suspected Brown Sugar weighing around 530 grams. Security personnel also seized the Tata Yodha vehicle along with cash amounting to ₹5,000.

In another operation conducted the same day, Manipur Police recovered a substantial quantity of arms and ammunition from a forested area in Champanagar under Jiribam Police Station in Jiribam district.

The recovered items included six Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs), one AK rifle, five magazines and 625 live rounds of ammunition of various calibres.

Police said investigations are continuing in both cases, and necessary legal proceedings have been initiated.
