Imphal, July 4: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on July 3 conducted a comprehensive review of the functioning of the Public Works Department (PWD) during a high-level meeting at the New Civil Secretariat in Mantripukhri, with a focus on accelerating infrastructure development across the state.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner (Works), the Chief Engineer and other senior officials of the department, who briefed the Chief Minister on the status of ongoing projects and departmental priorities.
During the review, Singh evaluated the progress of various infrastructure works, examined manpower requirements and discussed proposed development initiatives. He emphasised the need for efficient execution, technical viability and the timely completion of projects while maintaining high construction standards.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to closely supervise the implementation of ongoing works to ensure that all projects are completed within the prescribed timelines without compromising quality. He also highlighted the importance of stronger interdepartmental coordination to address implementation challenges and facilitate faster project execution.
Singh observed that improving the performance of the Public Works Department is vital for enhancing road connectivity, strengthening public infrastructure and upgrading civic amenities throughout Manipur. He said timely completion of development projects would improve the delivery of public services, create fresh development opportunities and contribute significantly to the overall welfare of the state’s people.
The review forms part of the Manipur government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, speed up infrastructure development and ensure the effective implementation of public welfare projects across the state.
