Guwahati: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) proudly announced that Dr. Yugal Kishore Mohanta, faculty member of the Department of Applied Biology, has contributed to a landmark global health study recently published in The Lancet (Impact Factor: 88.5), one of the world’s most prestigious medical journals.
The study, titled “Burden of 375 diseases and injuries, risk-attributable burden of 88 risk factors, and healthy life expectancy in 204 countries and territories, including 660 subnational locations, 1990–2023: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023,” provides one of the most comprehensive assessments to date of global health patterns, risk factors, and life expectancy trends. Covering three decades of data from 1990 to 2023, it analyses disease burden, evaluates key health risks, and offers critical insights to guide public health policy worldwide.

Dr. Mohanta represented North East India in this international collaboration, reflecting his dedication to public health research, evidence-based policymaking, and advancing health equity.
