All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) president Badruddin Ajmal urged opposition parties to strengthen the INDIA alliance, saying they should not be intimidated by the BJP and expressing confidence that political challenges would eventually reach Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Ajmal said opposition parties should remain fearless in their efforts to counter the BJP.
“Eventually, it will be PM Modi’s turn. People will break him too. We should not be afraid,” he said.
The AIUDF president emphasised the need for greater unity among opposition parties, stating that the INDIA alliance, led by Rahul Gandhi, must remain strong to effectively take on the BJP.
“We should not be afraid. The INDIA alliance—the coalition Rahul Gandhi is leading—needs to be strong,” Ajmal said.
Referring to the political situation in West Bengal, Ajmal suggested that better electoral coordination among alliance partners could have prevented internal competition.
“If Rahul Gandhi hadn’t contested in Bengal, perhaps Mamata Banerjee wouldn’t be in this condition; when there is an alliance, one shouldn’t go there,” he said, apparently commenting on seat-sharing and coordination within the INDIA bloc.
Ajmal’s remarks came amid ongoing discussions among opposition parties on strengthening coordination within the alliance ahead of future elections.
