Assam to Expand CM-FLIGHT with Korean, German and Other Foreign Language Training

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced that the state government will expand its flagship CM-FLIGHT programme by introducing training in Korean, German and other foreign languages to prepare young people for overseas employment opportunities.

In a post on X, Sarma said the combination of Assam’s demographic potential and the increasing global demand for skilled workers offers the state a significant opportunity.

“The convergence of Assam’s demographic potential and the global demand for skilled labour talent presents us one of the greatest opportunities,” he said.

The Chief Minister stated that the CM-FLIGHT initiative, supported by India’s partnerships with the international community, has been designed to equip youth with foreign language skills, enabling them to pursue careers abroad with confidence and dignity.

He said the programme had begun with more than 50 students learning Japanese and had received an encouraging response. “In the next phase we aim to expand the programme to include Korean, German and other languages,” Sarma said.

Sharing photographs from his interaction with the first batch of CM-FLIGHT trainees, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the initiative’s impact, saying it was helping young aspirants prepare for opportunities in the global job market.

“It was truly satisfying for me to see how this programme is helping their aspirations find a place on the global arena,” he added.
