Ahead of the presentation of the Assam State Budget, Congress MLA Jakir Hussain Sikdar expressed hope that the budget would genuinely address the aspirations of the people and resolve the state’s long-pending issues.
Speaking to reporters, Sikdar said the budget was the first of the BJP government’s current term, while noting that the party has been presenting annual budgets since coming to power in Assam several years ago.
He alleged that the implementation of projects had often failed to match the announcements and financial allocations made in previous budgets.
“We hope that this budget will truly be for the people of Assam and serve their interests by addressing the long-standing demands of the state’s residents. We are approaching today’s budget with a positive outlook and hope it will be a good budget,” Sikdar said.
