Guwahati, Aug 2: Reliance Foundation founder and chairperson Nita Ambani has contributed Rs 21 crore to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support relief and rehabilitation efforts for families affected by the recent floods in Upper Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced.
Expressing his gratitude, Sarma said the Reliance Foundation has consistently stood by the people of Assam during times of crisis.
In a post on X, the chief minister said Ambani had always extended support to the state whenever it faced difficult circumstances. He also recalled the foundation’s assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it provided timely aid to people across Assam.
Sarma said the latest contribution would further strengthen the state’s ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts for flood-affected families in Upper Assam.
Apart from the financial assistance, Reliance Foundation teams are actively engaged in the flood-hit areas, providing food, public health services, emergency shelter and support for livestock affected by the disaster.
The chief minister thanked Nita Ambani and the Reliance Foundation for their continued compassion and support, saying the contribution would provide significant assistance to communities recovering from the floods.
