Morigaon: In a major breakthrough, police in Lahorighat, Morigaon district, arrested notorious cyber criminal Chirajul Islam, who is accused of embezzling ₹27 crore from Kerala’s Federal Bank through his firm, Chirajul Islam & Co.
The operation was carried out by a special team from Kerala Police, with crucial assistance from Lahorighat Sub-Divisional Police Officer Diganta Baruah. During the raid at Chirajul’s lavish residence in Prasadsom, police seized several luxury vehicles and documented his extensive assets.

Authorities revealed that the accused had personally siphoned ₹4 crore into his own account. Chirajul, who has a prior record of multiple cybercrime convictions, is believed to be one of the masterminds behind a wider online fraud network.
Police sources added that several other cybercriminals operating from areas like Laharighat and Lengtibari are under watch. Officials have termed the arrest a major success in the fight against digital financial crimes, marking a key step toward dismantling organized cyber fraud networks in the region.
