Guwahati: The Assam government has initiated a significant overhaul of the state police force, transferring over 30 senior IPS and APS officers to new roles across various districts and specialized units. This move aims to optimize policing efficiency, strengthen district-level administration, and improve operational coordination.
The transfers, approved by the Governor of Assam, are part of a routine rotation policy to ensure administrative dynamism and bring in fresh leadership in key areas. The reshuffle covers a wide range of districts, reflecting the government’s intent to maintain balanced supervision and enhance coordination between district police units and specialized branches.
Key Appointments:
- Partha Protim Das, IPS, has been transferred from SSP, Sribhumi to SSP, Cachar
- Numal Mahatta, APS, will take charge as SSP, Kokrajhar
- Leena Doley, APS, has been posted to Sribhumi from Dhubri
- Debasish Borah, APS, moves to Dhubri as SSP
- Other notable transfers include Pushpraj Singh, IPS, Sanjib Kumar Saikia, APS, Subhrajyoti Bora, IPS, and Gurav Abhijit Dilip, IPS
This large-scale reshuffle is expected to reinvigorate field operations, improve community policing, and enhance coordination between district police units and specialized branches. The move is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to modernize policing infrastructure and increase efficiency in countering organized crime, narcotics operations, and human trafficking.
