Guwahati: Assam Police have arrested two individuals in separate incidents connected to the aftermath of singer Zubeen Garg’s tragic demise, as authorities intensify their crackdown on those attempting to exploit the sensitive case.
In the first case, Md Rasim Ali, son of Majnu Ali of Ahopa, was arrested after being identified in video footage showing him near the DY365 OB Van that caught fire during violent unrest in Baksa district on October 15. During interrogation, Rasim reportedly admitted that he was not a fan of the singer, distancing himself from genuine mourners. Police confirmed that a detailed probe is underway to determine his role in the incident.
In a separate case, Md Injamul Hoque (27), son of Rowsot Uddin of Telia Bebejia under Juria Police Station in Nagaon, was apprehended for uploading a provocative video related to Zubeen Garg’s death on Facebook under the pseudonym “SK Ahmad” on October 15, 2025. Hoque confessed to sourcing the clip from an OTT platform and adding inflammatory commentary before posting it online.
Police officials said both cases remain under active investigation and warned of stern action against anyone attempting to incite public unrest or exploit emotional issues linked to the singer’s death.
