Duliajan, Aug 14: Mrinaljyoti Rehabilitation Centre (MRC), Duliajan, organised an awareness-cum-training programme for ASHA and Anganwadi workers at the Tingkhong Gaon Panchayat Office Auditorium on Thursday under Oil India Limited’s CSR initiative, Project OIL SAKSHYAM.
Around 50 ASHA and Anganwadi supervisors and workers from the Tingkhong ICDS Project and the Office of the Sub-Divisional Medical and Health Officer, Naharani PHC, Dibrugarh, attended the programme. Officials and members of MRC’s resource team also participated.
The training covered different types of disabilities, developmental delays and their early warning signs, with emphasis on early identification and timely referral for assessment, intervention and rehabilitation.
Participants were also trained on communicating with families, providing guidance, facilitating referrals and helping children and persons with disabilities remain connected with rehabilitation services. Sessions covered disability certificates, UDID cards, legal guardianship, government schemes and other available support.
The programme also stressed inclusion and the need to reduce stigma around disability. MRC highlighted the role of frontline workers in identifying developmental concerns and connecting families with appropriate services.
The initiative reflected the collaboration between OIL and MRC to strengthen community-level disability awareness and the capacity of frontline workers. MRC said stronger coordination among health workers, Anganwadi personnel, government departments, rehabilitation professionals and families could support earlier intervention and timely rehabilitation.
MRC, which has worked in rehabilitation and empowerment of persons with disabilities for 27 years, said it would continue efforts to promote an inclusive society based on equal opportunities, timely support and dignity.
