The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will begin a statewide booth verification exercise on August 18 ahead of the upcoming village council elections, with a focus on identifying weak and inactive booths and strengthening grassroots teams.
In a notification issued by the BJP State Executive Committee, state president Abhishek Debroy directed all district presidents to initiate the verification process across the state.
The exercise will identify inactive and weak booths and assign new workers where necessary. The party has also directed that workers given booth-level responsibilities should not hold other organisational or administrative duties simultaneously, allowing them to focus on the verification process.
A five-member State Booth Verification Team has been formed to oversee the exercise. State BJP vice-president Tapas Bhattacharya will serve as convenor, while state secretary Nabadal Banik, state secretary Bhumika Nanda Reang, BJP chairman Abhijit Deb and former district president Debabrata Bhattacharjee will serve as co-convenors.
The state team will coordinate the exercise across districts. Each district will form a three-member committee comprising one convenor and two co-convenors. At the mandal level, a district in-charge will be appointed to constitute a three-member verification team.
The BJP has set August 24 as the deadline for completing the statewide exercise, which is aimed at strengthening its booth-level organisation and preparing the party for the village council elections.
