Assam launches first multilingual farmer helpline for NERES XXV power project

Assam has launched its first dedicated multilingual farmer helpline for communities affected by the NERES XXV power transmission project, providing residents with a direct channel to seek information, raise concerns and access assistance.

Chirang District Commissioner Gokul Chandra Brahma launched the helpline, which is available in Assamese, Bodo and Hindi. It will serve communities along the project corridor in Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Bajali districts.

The initiative aims to improve communication between the administration and residents affected by the infrastructure project by providing a platform for grievances and clarification. The administration said dialogue, transparency and responsive grievance redressal would help strengthen trust with local communities.

The NERES XXV project is expected to strengthen Assam and the Northeast’s power transmission network, improve grid reliability and support the region’s growing electricity requirements.

The helpline is intended to ensure that community concerns remain part of the infrastructure development process.
