Kohima: Four representatives from Nagaland have been selected to represent India at the upcoming 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, scheduled from September 19 to October 4. The selected representatives include two women Sepaktakraw players — Menenu Tsukru of AIPSCB/SSB and Seyiekhrieno Tepa of State Girls Academy, Dimapur — along with two coaches, Puleno Neikha of the Nagaland Department of Youth Resources and Sports and Pungotolu Puro of the ABSIDGP Sports Team, Nagaland Police. Neikha and Puro, both accomplished senior women Sepaktakraw players from Nagaland, will serve as coaches of the Indian women’s Sepaktakraw team at the continental sporting event.

The selection marks the fifth consecutive Asian Games since 2010 in which Sepaktakraw players and coaches from Nagaland have represented India, underlining the state’s growing contribution to the sport at the national and international levels. The Nagaland Sepaktakraw Association congratulated all four representatives and wished them success as they prepare to represent both Nagaland and India at the prestigious multi-sport event.
The 20th Asian Games will bring together athletes from across Asia in Aichi-Nagoya, with Sepaktakraw among the disciplines in which India will seek strong performances. The selection of the four Nagaland representatives is being viewed as another significant achievement for the state’s sporting community.
