AGARTALA: The Tripura Cabinet on August 20 approved a proposal to establish four new Government Railway Police Stations (GRPS) to strengthen security for railway passengers across the state.
The new GRPS will be set up at Bishramganj, Udaipur, Belonia and Sabroom, taking the total number of railway police stations in Tripura to 14.
The Cabinet also approved the creation of 105 posts across various categories, including Sub-Inspectors and Assistant Sub-Inspectors, to staff the proposed stations.
In another decision, the state government approved a proposal to establish a university at Bishalgarh in Sepahijala district.
The Cabinet further sanctioned 305 new posts across various departments, including 200 Assistant Professor positions, as part of efforts to strengthen manpower and improve administrative and academic capacity in the state.
