BHB College to host Khelo India Samwad Programme on National Sports Day

Bajali: BHB College, Sarupeta, has been selected as a Category A educational institution from Bajali district to host the Khelo India Samwad programme as part of the nationwide celebration of National Sports Day. In this regard, a press conference was held at BHB College on August 24 in the presence of Principal Dr Nayan Jyoti Das, District Youth Officer Dilshad Hussain, MY Bharat Officer Shashank Bharali and NSS Programme Officer Dr Jahnu Bharadwaj.

The programme will be jointly organised by the NSS Cell of BHB College and MY Bharat, Bajali district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to virtually address more than eight lakh young participants gathered at 1,600 locations across the country. At BHB College, eminent sports organiser and football coach Dhiraj Kalita will participate as the distinguished sportsperson, while Tahir Alam, Additional Commissioner (Education), Bajali district, will be invited for an interaction with students.

The programme will include discussions on the transformation of India’s sports infrastructure over the past 12 years, followed by a Yuva Samvaad where students can share their ideas and aspirations for the future of Indian sports and the vision of Viksit Bharat. The youth dialogue will focus on strengthening grassroots sports facilities and coaching, nurturing talent for the 2036 Olympics, enhancing youth participation in governance and empowering young people through skills, volunteering and nation-building opportunities.

 It is to be mentioned that National Sports Day is observed every year on August 29 to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. This year, the special Khelo India Samwad programme will be organised on August 27, bringing together young people, sportspersons and public representatives to discuss the growth of India’s sports ecosystem.
